The services Fidler Associates provide are detailed below:

• Carryout an initial discussion to understand the scope of the works, to allow a fee and scope of works to be agreed.

 

• Complete a site survey of the property. During the survey the engineer will discuss various issues, such as:

  • How will the walls be removed, and where will temporary propping be required.

  • Party Walls issues and other implications on neighbours.

  • Inspect the property to determine whether there are repairs or defects local to the works that should be discussed.

 

• Produce structural plans either from architectural plans provided or a dimension survey. From these the structural design and detail will be calculated and produced.

 

• Undertake the structural design and detailing. Once the information has been provided a Structural Engineer will spend time considering the implications of the alterations and what new structure is required to support the loads in question. This process produces a pack of structural calculations and drawings that are issued to Building Control for their approval. Once this is completed the structural package will be issued to the design team and to the contractor for construction.

 

• Make an assessment of the impact of the local ground conditions. From trial pits, site investigation and soil testing carried out by Specialist companies.

 

• Produce existing and proposed floor plans and associated details.

 

• Compile and issue information for Part A of the Building Regulations

 

• Help with the tender process. Fidler Associates Ltd has a large database of contractors.

 

• Visit site and inspect the works at appropriate stages during the structural phase of the works.
